Job Purpose:

AR Specialist II responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, maintaining all facets of health care receivables. This could include billing, adjusting accounts and posting payments based on the explanation of benefits and claim resolution. Identify and report error patterns and when necessary, assist in workflow design and implementation. May serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on problem resolution teams as assigned. A strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills are required. 

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or high school diploma with a required minimum of three years’ relevant experience in healthcare billing or collections.
  • Annual Flu immunization by Nov 1 and current CPI training required.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Extensive knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD and DSM;
  • Must have a clear understanding of how the billing cycle works;
  • Resolve error reports associated with the billing process;
  • Extensive knowledge of third party payers, such as Medicare and Medicaid plans;
  • Ability to accurately make adjustments to accounts based on the explanation of benefits and correspondence received from insurance companies
  • Must be able to identify credit on accounts, and supply supporting documentation for all refunds;
  • Ability to cross train and provide team support;
  • Must be able to complete additional trainings as required;
  • Must have advanced math skills and advanced understanding of accounting principles;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Internet access and Electronic Health Records;
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer keyboard, calculator, copy machine, fax machine and multi-line telephone.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to manage a large volume of work accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Must regard work as confidential.
  • Able to actively problem-solve and make ethical decisions.
  • Must have the ability to interact and communicate with staff, clients, and vendors in a courteous, professional and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to work beyond regularly scheduled hours when necessary.
  • Ability to take on additional tasks as assigned.
