Job Purpose:

Participates as a member of the program team to design and implement the individual care plans for program clients in accordance with policies, rules, regulations, and directives which apply.  Utilizes DBT skills in addition to a variety of treatment approaches to work with a diverse client population.  Some BHPII’s may be assigned to give greater concentration to one or more of the Center’s priority populations and/or services with exclusive emphasis to DBT participants.  Example:  Persons with severe and persistent mental illness; children; adolescents; families; elderly; developmental disabilities and substance abuse clients. 

Position Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field required.
  • Two years post-graduate experience in human services field preferred.  
  • Annual Flu immunization by Nov 1, annual TB screening, current CPI training and BLS certification required. 

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:

  • A working knowledge of individual, group, family and crisis treatment approaches and their application to clients with emotional, behavioral and substance abuse problems.
  • Ability to summarize service themes from a variety of client contracts and communicate suggested improvements for service delivery.
  • Ability to do mental status exams, data bases and differential diagnoses, service planning, assessment case management and treatment.
  • Ability to assess level of risk and make appropriate clinical judgment for resolution of client emergencies to effect a safe outcome.
  • Ability to deliver services in various community locations.
  • Working knowledge of Colorado Revised Statutes 27-10 (Mental Health Code)
  • Working knowledge of HIPPA and 42 CFR.
  • Knowledge of community health and mental health resources and their eligibility criteria.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet Access.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.  Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must have current drivers license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS commercial insurance agency.
